Sales Taxes in Future

Ms. Ageton repeated the current wisdom in Boulder that Boulder has lost its position as the shopping locus or center of Boulder County because all the people have moved east, and that Boulder isn't going to reestablish its former prominence as a regional shopping destination. Given that fact, she expressed her view that it wasn't helpful to Boulder to concentrate on sales tax revenues exclusively or even primarily in the future. She also acknowledged when asked that even with 29th Street in full swing, the former levels of sales tax revenue generated when Crossroads was thriving would not be obtained.
