Barrie Hartman

The Issues

Hartman articulated on some of the major issues he is facing including former CU football kicker Katie Hnida, alleged rape victim Lisa Simpson, and the infamous Professor Ward Churchill.

Hnida is due out with a book Still Kicking which chronicles her experiences of being a female football player. The book is scheduled for release November 21st and, as it was relayed by Hartman, will be quite harsh on the school. Hartman emphasized his 'don't hold anything back' approach in dealing with the impending situation. He plans to lay everything on the table and focus on the moves CU has made towards ensuring that the negative aspects of her situation are never repeated.

From the Simpson case, Hartman made the point of a learning experience. The lesson: open dialogue and humility.

Ward Churchill was mentioned as well. Hartman gave insight into the details of the case and its current status. Hartman told of his concern that the school is, for the time being, paying the Professor eight thousand a month to do nothing.
